Downtown Lions Hold Installation and Awards Banquet

     The Eugene Downtown Lions Club’s annual awards and installation banquet was held on June 13 at Shadow Hills Country Club. The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Lion Past International Director Ed Gear.

     Outgoing President Bob Stansbury welcomed everyone and thanked them for helping him get through the year. Lion Bob gave out ceremonial pens showing he spared no expense in lavishing presents on his hardworking fellow Lions.

     Next came the big awards. The award for “Lion of the Year” was presented to Lion Chuck Blanchard (see below).

 

The “Cub of the Year” award was given to Lion Jim Newton (see below). 

     Lion Diane Landon was given an award for “Chairperson of the Year” and Lion Twila Butler was given the President’s Appreciation Award. 

     Lion PID Ed Gear introduced District R Governor Jack Stoops who then introduced the new Officers and Board Members and gave each one some “special” tools that would help them do their respective duties. Lion Jack performed one of the most entertaining induction ceremonies ever done.

     The officers for 2009-10 are new President Joy Troutman ,1st Vice President Chuck Blanchard, 2nd Vice President Joe Sneddon , 3rd Vice President Judith Grosenick,  Secretary Vic Bender, Treasurer Len Calvert, Tail Twister Twila Butler & Lion Tamer Walt Curtis. The Directors are the following Lions: Tim Chuey, Mary Fechtel, Diane Landon, & Jim Mueller (newly elected) and holdovers Don Combs, Ed Gear, Ann Musgrove, and Jim Newton.

     Lion Past President Bob was given his Past President’s plaque and pin and special gift, then President Joy received her President’s pin. A good time was had by all who were ready to start another Lion’s year.
