Lions District 36-R Cabinet Meeting - August 9

Time:  9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Place:  Mapleton Lions Club, 88148 Riverview Ave.

VIP Lion to Visit MD-36 - August 9

 

On Saturday, August 9, LCI Past International President Jimmy Ross will be the honored guest and featured speaker at the Hood River Lions Club 70th Anniversary Celebration.  Although in Lions District 36-G, this special event is worthy in that we don't often get such distinguished visitors to our multiple district.  If interested in attending, please contact PDG John Codino, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. A FOND FAREWELL AND A BIG “THANK YOU” FOR

PDG GEORGE DEHART

 

     During the 36-R Leadership Workshop in Florence on July 12th, PDG George DeHart reported he has tendered his resignation as our District Leadership Chair, an important part of the MERL Team, of which he's been a member 

for many years.  He also announced his replacement, PDG Rod Bach, will be assuming Lion George's responsibility.

 

 

     A big “thank you”, Lion George, for many, many years of exceptional service to our clubs and Lions throughout our multiple district and beyond.  We sincerely hope you and Lion Dee enjoy your well deserved rest.

 

DG JACK STOOPS’ CHALLENGE TO 36-R CLUBS

Category:  Healthy Club

    > Have at least one representative at the District Convention in Florence, Jan. 16-17, 2009

    > Have at least one representative at two zone meetings over the course of the year

    > Send in a sample of your newsletter or other club communication device

    > Send in one idea for fund raising that your club has used successfully

    > Send in a list of at least two speakers who have spoken to your club this year

    > Turn in all monthly club paperwork on time

 

Category:  Extension and Retention

    > Realize a net gain of two new members over the course of the year

    > Submit pictures and stories of at least one club service project that changed someone's life in your community

    > Hold one club meeting at a different time than usual and invite community members to "Learn About Lions"

    > Invite your region and zone chairs to speak to your club about how you can help sponsor a new club or assist another club in doing so

 

Category:  Community Service

    > Schedule the MHSU in your community

    > Sponsor a youth to attend a Lions camp or HOBY

    > Send in pictures and an explanation of a community service project that the club has completed

    > Contribute to the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation

36-R Convention, January 16-17, 2009

Break out your Palm Pilots, PDAs, digital calendars and other record keeping devices.  DGE Jack Stoops has arranged to host your 36-R Lions District Convention at the new 3 Rivers Casino Resort, Florence; room rates are only $79.  Over the next few months your convention committee will be busy lining up great programs, entertainment, food and more to ensure this will be a positive, memorable event for you.  There are 90 plush rooms at the hotel and we hope our Lions and their families fill them all.  Complete details will be published as they become available.
