The Latest From the Foundation

NEW MEMBERS OF THE OLSHF TEAM

There are three new faces at your Foundation who are passionate, dedicated and excited to be a part of this fabulous organization. Adding these talented and experienced individuals to our team will only help us further our mission and meet the growing demand for services.

Doug Thompson, Resource Development Director, is a graduate of Oregon State University – Go Beavs! – and spent 22 years with the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, the last eight as the Executive Director. A native Oregonian, Doug resides in West Linn. Doug enjoys spending time with his family, hacking around the golf course, reading, cooking especially Italian – and raising money for the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation as of July 6. He also claims to enjoy yard work. Doug is a passionate supporter of OSU athletics but does tolerate supporters of the “school to the south” of Corvallis, especially if they support the Foundation. He also enjoys travel, aspires to one day see Europe, but currently is content to explore the beauty of Oregon, meet Lions throughout the state and generate further support for the Foundation.

Diane Freaney, Chief Financial Offi cer, is a CPA with over 20 years experience as the CFO of community and educational foundations, arts organizations and other non-profit organizations. She has a BS in Accounting from the Syracuse University, an MBA from Newport University and an MS in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania. Diane came to Portland to experience the vibrant arts community and pursue a love of community- based theater and independent film. Diane arrived on December 1, just in time for our snow storm and has already made plans for several trips to her Florida condo next winter. Diane is proud to be working with the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation. In addition to her work with the Lions, she serves as Contract CFO with several other local organizations, including the Museum of Contemporary Craft and Film Action Oregon.

Denise “Neesie” Doss, part-time Special Projects Assistant, is the newest staff member of our team as of July 27. She was born and raised in Sonoma, California and relocated to Portland from Birmingham, Alabama a year ago. Neesie brings over 16 years of professional experience including 10 years in management at a fast-paced Fortune 500 company. Most recently, she worked in support roles at The Arthritis Foundation and The Salvation Army. In 2007, Neesie and friends and created their own grassrootsnon-profit called “Team Hero,” preparing and delivering 3,600 sandwiches so far to homeless persons in our community. Neesie is a Hospice volunteer and visits two elderly clients in assisted living facilities weekly, providing compassionate support and respite to family members. Neesie enjoys hiking, reading, and music. She learned how to play bass guitar eight years ago and plays in two local bands here in Portland. Neesie is very happy to be part of the OLSHF organization. She believes wholeheartedly in the mission, vision and values of our organization.
