Another Seafood Success

As in past years, the 2008 Crab Feed and Auction was a success according to Lion Diane Landon, one of the Committee of Four who engineered the event. Beginning back in January, the committee assembled to begin the next several months of work that included asking for auction items, seeking donations for the wine raffle, inviting nearby Lions Clubs to attend, and advertising the event.

The nearly 120 attendees enjoyed plenty of crab (or ham for non-seafood folks) and a diversity of delicious salads and desserts all served up on appropriately decorated tables. As always, auctioneer-extraordinaire Sid Voorhees used his persuasive skills to auction off 20 items. These items in addition to over 40 silent auction items and 8 cases of wine generated nearly $6,000.

The Committee of Four (Lions Alice Bender, Twila Butler, Diane Landon, and Yvonne O’Herron) was ably assisted by a crew of 25-30 Lions who helped set up, serve, and clean up. All in all, a delightful evening for members, their families, and friends.
