Lots of Crab and Lots of Winners

The Eugene Downtown Lions Club Annual Crab Feed and Auction was a great success again this year. It was held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. More than 80 Lions and guests attended the evening of fun.

After eating a great meal consisting of crab, other entrees for those who didn’t want crab, and a table full of wonderful deserts, it was then on to the prize raffle and the wine raffle. Lion Twila Butler acted as MC and kept things rolling by alternately announcing winners of the raffle prizes and winners of the wine raffle.

The raffle items were along one wall of the dinning room and participants bought tickets which they placed in plastic buckets by the prizes they wanted to win. A winning ticket was picked from each bucket and that’s how the people won their items. Those who purchased wine raffle tickets got to choose which wine they wanted in the order their winning tickets were drawn.

Two of the big raffle prize winners were Lions Judith Grosenick and Mary Fechtel, who coincidentally sat at the same table. Next, it was on to the ever popular bingo with experienced caller Lion Larry Thompson with helpers Lion Joe Sneddon and Lion Twila Butler.  Bingo winners had their choice from many gift certificates. The results of the silent auction were then announced with items ranging from stays at a condo at Sunriver or at Driftwood Shores in Flornce, to a home office computer and accessories to a day of drift boat fishing with lunch included. A good time was had by all and the reported gross receipts totaled $4,600. Not bad for a night filled with fun, food, and fellowship.
